Best Nutrition Coaches for Healthy Aging

Dietitians and nutrition coaches working on metabolic health, muscle preservation, and eating patterns that hold up after 40.

What to look for

Registered Dietitian is a protected credential with an accredited degree, a supervised internship, and a national exam behind it. Nutritionist and nutrition coach are not protected in most states. Both can be useful; only one is regulated, and that difference matters most if you have a medical condition in play.

For adults over 40, ask what protein target they work to and why. Anabolic resistance means older adults need more protein per meal to trigger the same muscle response, and a coach who has not thought about per-meal distribution has probably not thought about muscle at all.

Ask whether they coordinate with your clinician if you are on medication that interacts with diet. The good ones offer before you ask.
